WITH LAHIRI ON WHEREABOUTS
I am extremely delighted to be chatting with Jhumpa Lahiri about exile, stepmother and mothered tongues, her disciplined jump outside of mastery into linguistic immersion, and the future of an anti-racist Italian literary sphere vis-à-vis her first novel composed in Italian, then (self-)translated into English, Whereabouts/Dove Mi Trovo, as part of a larger tour. Check out the star-studded cast, which made it to the pages of Entertainment Weekly, lol. This event, sponsored by the Chicago Humanities Festival, will benefit our extremely beloved non-profit bookstore co-op, the Seminary Co-op in Hyde Park.
