GEOLOGICAL WRITINGS IN HOUSTON
I feel lucky to be part of the series that Cristina Rivera Garza has organized on Geological Writings at the University of Houston next week. I'll be reading from and discussing my current poetry/research project focusing on copper and smelting ecologies in border zones (between indigenous and settler communities, nation states, immigrant groups), spanning the rise of global telecommunications through the e-waste crisis, the total digital enclosure of smartness vs. degrowth: my title is “Open-Pit Poetics.”
